1917 vince il Producers Guild Award e vola in testa ai pronostici Oscar 2020

In queste ore sono stati consegnati i Producers Guild Awards 2020, con 1917 di Sam Mendes che ha battuto la concorrenza di Joker, C'Era Una Volta a Hollywood, Parasite e The Irishman e ha portato a casa il premio principale.

Questa importante vittoria fa del war-movie della Universal l'attuale principale favorito per il Best Picture agli Oscar 2020, se non altro perché il sistema di votazione per i due premi, basato sul voto preferenziale, è praticamente lo stesso identico. Non a caso, il vincitore del PGA ha finito col vincere l'Oscar per il miglior film 21 volte in 30 anni e 8 volte nei 10 anni in cui gli slot per le nomination di entrambi i premi sono stati aumentati a dieci con sistema di voto preferenziale.

Ma c'è ancora spazio di manovra: 12 Anni Schiavo pareggiò con Gravity ai PGA prima di vincere l'Oscar, mentre nel 2015 e nel 2016 la gilda dei produttori diede il premio a La Grande Scommessa e a La La Land, mentre gli Oscar andarono a Spotlight e a Moonlight. Il fattore inedito è che il calendario della stagione dei premi è ristrettissimo quest'anno, con le votazioni Oscar che si apriranno già dal 30 gennaio, e bisogna tener conto anche del fatto che 1917 non è candidato a nessun Screen Actors Guild Awards, che invece saranno assegnati questa notte.

Insomma la strada verso la più incerta cerimonia degli Academy Awards è si breve, ma anche molto tortuosa.
